The Gidi Culture Festival is a music and arts festival that takes place in Lagos, Nigeria every Easter. It was created in response to a demand from the local youth culture for live, affordable, and accessible entertainment in Africa.
Started in 2014 by Eclipse Live Africa, Gidifest provides a venue for live bands, DJs, and musical acts to perform. It also features outdoor activities such as volleyball and beach soccer, the display of carefully curated art pieces and live sketching by incredible Nigerian illustrators and an array of appetizing delights of food and drinks from various vendors.
Gidifest 2017 edition will be held at Eko Atlantic on the 15th of April with the main show featuring a line-up of African acts from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Congo, Kenya, and the United Kingdom. Gidifest 2017 performing acts are: Diplo, Davido, Seyi Shay, Burna Boy, Simi, Niniola, Reekado Banks, Sauti Sol, Vanessa Mdee, Falana, Dremo, Ckay, Chyn, Boj, Blackah, Wale Turner, Tomi Thomas, A’Rese, Tjan, Pryse, Mayorkun, Lola Rae, Fresh L with Folu Storms and Jimmie as the hosts. DJs to grace the event are DJ Obi and DJ Neptune
The goal of the festival is to encourage the development of African talent, showcase African culture and promote artists both within the continent and into overseas markets and it represents the progression of urban youth culture on the continent, born in Lagos as the melting pot of Africa for music and culture, with a global outlook.
