Med-View Airline PLC yesterday said it would commence direct flight operations from its base in Lagos, Nigeria to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with effect from July 4.
Managing Director of the airline, Alhaji Muneer Bankole, disclosed said the airline would launch the highly competitive route with two weekly flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays. According to him, the frequencies would be subsequently increased as it develops the route.
Daily Trust reports that Emirates and Etihad are the major players on the routes. But the commencement of flights by Med-view, a local carrier, would boost competition on the route and possibly crash fare. The Dubai, UAE addition would be the second international flights after London Gatwick which the airline started on November 20, 2015.
Bankole stated that the airline had met all the requirements of the UAE’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) just as it had already employed personnel manning the Dubai office. He added that the airline would deploy two Boeing aircraft; B777-200 and B767 to the route, assuring that the indigenous carrier would make a success out of the route.
