In a bid to widen its network and position itself as the preferred airline in the West African sub-region, Africa World Airlines (AWA) has taken delivery of its 6th Aircraft, an Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft.

Nicknamed KILO, the ERJ 145 with registration number AFK touched down at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Sunday August 27, 2017 to the admiration of the airline’s staff.

Africa World Airlines is reportedly planning to launch flights to new destinations within the West African sub-region in the near future.

In June, Africa World Airlines made history as it became first airline from Ghana to operate scheduled flights between Accra Ghana and Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.

Earlier, the Accra-based airline, which currently operates regional flights to Lagos and Abuja Nigeria, said it was looking to bring in more equipment and increase its offering to West African destinations.

In just four years of operating in the aviation industry, leading Ghanaian carrier, Africa World Airline (AWA) has become a darling airline to air travellers in Ghana and Nigerian.

AWA was incorporated on November 15, 2010 as a joint-venture between HNA Group (China), SAS Finance Group (Ghana), China-Africa Development Fund (CAD-Fund, China) and the Social Security and National Insurance (SSNIT).
